Determining an optimum zone radius for zone routing protocol (ZRP) based on node mobility

Mobility is one of the important issues in Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET). By definition, MANET nodes are free to move around and this may cause difficulty routing. routing protocols must consider factor when making decision. Zone Routing Protocol (ZRP) a hybrid protocol, which utilizes proactive reactive advantages. ZRP proactively maintains information within zone, while reactively discovering routes destinations beyond zone. Since based on concept determining an optimum zone radius has major impact performance that protocol. In research, we studied effect with different levels node mobility. Node mobility defined using two parameters: speed pause time. Based simulation results, protocol provides best packet delivery fraction, throughput normalized load. However, larger will provide lower delay.
